Dr. Thorsten Hennrich is a lawyer and a specialist lawyer (Fachanwalt) for information technology law. He has over 20 years of extensive practical experience in the cloud and hosting industry. As a lawyer with an affinity for technology, a particular focus of his advisory work is in the areas of IT outsourcing, cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI).
With many years of experience, his advice also focuses on data centre contracts, hosting, storage, colocation, software licence agreements, corporate transactions in the IT sector (tech transactions / tech deals), FinTechs, IT & cybersecurity (including BAIT, MaRisk, NIS-2) as well as all legal issues in the area of data protection and GDPR.
He is author of various publications and articles on IT law issues, with a special focus on the areas of data protection, cloud computing and data centre infrastructure. He is also General Counsel and Director Legal at a leading provider of managed cloud services in Germany. Dr Thorsten Hennrich has been working as a lawyer since 2011. He regularly gives lectures on current topics in IT law.
Before becoming a lawyer, he was long-standing managing director of a cloud and IT infrastructure provider he co-founded with data centres in Frankfurt am Main and Amsterdam. He therefore knows "both worlds" and is not only very familiar with IT and data protection law, but also with the technology underlying artificial intelligence and public and private clouds in data centres, among other things. Due to this extensive and long-standing practical experience in the cloud and hosting industry, clients particularly appreciate his holistic and practice-orientated advice.
Dr. Thorsten Hennrich studied at the Universities of Passau and Lausanne (Switzerland). He completed his doctorate on the subject of cloud computing and data protection at the University of Passau.
